Gospel Literature Services 40th Anniversary

Congratulations to Gospel Literature Services on their 40th Anniversary! Here’s an article about Gospel Literature Services and the impact it has had in the past forty years. The original article along with a video can be found HERE.

Gospel Literature Services began in 1973 when Mike Riley, a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, Ind., began a program to provide gospel literature—or the funds to produce that literature—to independent Baptist missionaries. The resources are usually Regular Baptist Press products initially produced for the U.S. market. Now missionaries are translating Sunday School and VBS curriculum into languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian Thai, Telugu, and Burmese.

In the 40 years since its founding, Gospel Literature Services has provided millions of dollars of material to missionaries who are starting new Baptist churches around the world.

Mike Riley retired from GLS after thirteen years of ministry, followed by the leadership of Mark Jackson (1986–1994), David Crandall (1994–2006), and Chris Hindal (2006–present). Each of the GLS directors has had one thing in common: long periods away from the Schaumburg, Ill. office! As a result, the day-to-day GLS ministry has been enhanced by two administrative assistants, Judy Emery (1973–2008) and Marianne Baltensperger (2008–present). Chris Brown worked as media specialist, 2001-2010).
