“Go, and Do Likewise.”  That was the message of Jesus.

In Luke 10, Jesus taught the parable of the Good Samaritan to a lawyer.  At the end of the parable, Jesus asked the lawyer, “Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” The lawyer replied, “The one who showed him mercy.”  Jesus responded very simply, “You go, and do likewise.”

This is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse – “to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.”  (source) Here at FBC, we are busy packing and collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Since 1993, over 124 million boys and girls in over 150 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts.  That’s a lot of shoeboxes!

Today, I want to point you to more information about Operation Christmas Child.  Some of you may be unfamiliar with Operation Christmas Child.

  • How to Pack a Shoebox – This page shows you very clearly how to pack your box.  They also give lots of gift suggestions.
  • Samaritan’s Purse – This page explains more about Samaritan’s Purse – the ministry that administers the Operation Christmas Child program.

Our church has a goal this year of packing over 200 boxes.  Will you help us?  Pick up your box (boxes) in the foyer if you are willing to help.

Happy Friday!
